FAQs, Mardi Gras Collection
What is Mardi Gras wall art? Mardi Gras wall art captures the explosive carnival energy, vivid purple-gold-green color tradition, masked parade culture, and New Orleans jazz spirit of the greatest celebration in American culture. Venetian mask parades, Bourbon Street brass bands, bead tosses from French Quarter balconies, and float parade art all live here. That is what x2metal.com prints are built for.
What is the history of Mardi Gras in America? Mardi Gras arrived in America with French explorers in 1699 when the future site of New Orleans was first explored by Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville. The first recorded Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans occurred in 1703. The Krewe of Comus organized the first modern parade in 1857, establishing the float parade tradition. The purple, gold, and green color tradition was formalized in 1872 when the Rex organization adopted them as the official Mardi Gras colors.
What makes Mardi Gras mask art different from float parade art? Mardi Gras mask art is intimate and mysterious — the elaborate feathered mask transforms the wearer, concealing identity while revealing character. The mask is the tradition of carnival anonymity and social reversal made beautiful. Float parade art is public, spectacular, and built on the collective energy of thousands of people caught up in something joyful. Mask art gives you mystery. Parade art gives you joy.
Is Mardi Gras wall art a good gift? For New Orleans lovers, jazz enthusiasts, Mardi Gras veterans, and anyone whose walls should feel like the city that invented the art of celebrating being alive. Ships in sturdy packaging. Stand and wall mount included. No tools. No waiting.
